       Fruits and vegetables contain many vitamins and minerals that are good for your health. These include vitamins A, C and E, magnesium, zinc, phosphorous and folic acid. Folic acid may reduce blood levels of homocysteine, a substance that may be a risk factor for coronary heart disease

Fruits and vegetables are good sources of many important nutrients like :-

  1. Calcium is essential for healthy bones and teeth. It is also needed for normal functioning of muscles, nerves and some glands.
  2. Fiber have been shown to have a number of beneficial effects like decreased risk of coronary heart disease.
  3. Folate in adequate amount may reduce a womanโ€™s risk of having a child with a brain or spinal cord defect.
  4. Iron is needed for healthy blood and normal functioning of all cells.
  5. Magnesium is necessary for healthy bones and inadequate levels may result in muscle cramps and high blood pressure.
  6. Potassium may help to maintain a healthy blood pressure.
  7. Sodium is needed for normal cell function throughout the body.
  8. Vitamin A :- Keeps eyes and skin healthy and helps protect against infections.
  9. Vitamin C helps to heal cuts and wounds and keeps teeth and gums healthy.
